Activities of Members

Members can devote as much time or as little time as they wish to the activities of MAFSA.

Some of the activities you can become involved in are

  • Catching of broodstock (fishing)
  • Learning of hatchery operations eg rearing of fingerlings (these have to be fed twice a day minimum)
  • Fish stocking surveys in our waterways
  • Maintenance of hatchery equipment
  • Releasing fingerlings under DPI supervision
  • Displays at Expo’s
  • Education & tours of hatchery for interested groups
  • Fish stocking conferences
  • Fish rescues
  • Environmental work eg construction of fishways, lagoons, structure or restoration of habitat
  • Administration – Secretarial, Accounting, Report Writing, Funding Applications etc.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at the Gordon White Library at Mt Pleasant. Meetings commence at 7.30pm.
